The map was used by my grand-father and father as they travelled around Jamaica for work. The original was published in 1888 and updated in 1905 and again in 1926 and came out in 1927. It has quite good detail of properties and estates in the parish. You will notice that, at the edges, the zoomed map is a little less clear. This is because when photographing the map, it was not possible to flatten it completely.
This map is Zoomable. Click on the map where you want to enlarge. Use the cursor hand to move up and down. There are more controls at the bottom of the page. If the picture does not clear on Zooming, you may need to "Refresh " the page in your browser.
You can use the Windows Snipping Tool, Set for Windows 7, (which you can change), and a program such as Paint to annote your map to put it into a family history book or tree
Note: As of March 16 2014 the Zoomify feature on this page now works in Internet Explorer (IE), 64-bit, and it works in Foxfire, Opera, Chrome, Safari and IE 32 bit browsers. However it does not work on Apple iPad because it requires Adobe Flash player and Adobe does not support Flash Player for iPad
If you can not or do not want to use the Zoomify feature to enlarge the map you can download a .jpg file of the whole map here. Note these map files are 5-7 MB and the download time will depend on your connection speed to the internet. You can use CTRL + and CTRL - to enlarge/reduce the map and capture it with the Windows Snipping tool (above) and annotate it in a program such as Paint or Photoshop.
